What is Physiotherapy

It is an science based healthcare profession that views movement as central to health and well being. Physiotherapists aim to identify and make the most of movement ability to restore function by health promotion, preventative advice, treatment and rehabilitation.

Physiotherapists assess and diagnose a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions that cause pain and loss of function. Pro Therapy Clinics physiotherapists are highly specialised and with over 10 years clinical experience. In partnership with you a treatment plan is agreed. Application of a treatment programme is aimed to restore functional activity, reduce pain and minimise dysfunction after disease and injury.

What musculoskeletal conditions do physiotherapists treat:

  • Sports injuries
  • Back pain and sciatica
  • Postural problems
  • Rehabilitation post surgery
  • Nerve entrapment
  • Upper and lower limb injuries
  • Soft tissue injuries
  • Neck pain & whiplash

Core skills used by our physiotherapists include manual therapy (‘hands on treatment’), taping and strapping, therapeutic exercise or sports specific rehabilitation and the application of electrotherapy modalities (ultra-sound, interferential and pulsed short wave diathermy) . Manual therapy techniques include joint mobilisations, massage, soft tissue release and manipulation.

All our staff are autonomous professional practitioners (they make their own clinical judgement and justify treatment choices) and undertake ongoing professional reflection (reviewing clinical outcomes in our work and taking action as appropriate to solve problems we identify).
